Board-Building Cycle This session addresses the nine steps to finding, recruiting, and engaging nonprofit board members (identify, cultivate, recruit, orient, involve, educate, evaluate, rotate, and celebrate).
The Board’s Role in Fundraising This session addresses the role of the board as a whole in fundraising versus the role of individual board members in fundraising; establishing a culture of philanthropy; overview of fundraising methods; and board member involvement in the three stages of fundraising.
The Board/Staff Partnership This session addresses the roles of board versus staff; how to support the culture of an effective board-staff partnership; key strategies to develop, manage, and survive executive transitions, including hiring and evaluation; and how to create a succession plan.
Governance Board Basic Roles & Responsibilities This session addresses the three primary roles of nonprofit boards; the board-chief executive partnership; and the roles and responsibilities of individual board members.
Structuring the High-Performance Board This session addresses primary board responsibilities; board members’ legal obligations; varied governance models; bylaws; board size and composition; organization of committees, work groups, and advisory committees; and meeting management, including the use of consent agendas and dashboard.
